Silver mined here once funded the kingdom, which is why the churches are large for a town of this size. An hour by train puts it within a day trip from the capital, and most people treat it that way. The hill lanes keep quiet across May and June, plus September and October.

Burned in the Hussite wars, it was revived by Santini, who blended Baroque into the Gothic frame. A short walk links it to the ossuary, and one joint ticket admits you to both.
OPEN IN MAPSA twelve-sided Gothic fountain carved in the late 1400s, its basin ringed by stone carved fine as lace. Mines drained the groundwater and left wells dry, so this served the town as a water store. It holds no water now and survives as ornament.
